I have been working as a home carer in the UK for the last year, since arriving in the UK. The work involves ensuring the health and safety of a range of clients, from elderly dementia sufferers to people with disabilities. My caring experience ranges from bathing, clothing and feeding clients to dealing with medication and mobility issues as well as shopping. I am able to prepare simple foods as long as they are halal, since I am a Muslim. In my home country, The Gambia, I worked in Jammeh Foundation Hospital, Bundu. The role involved assisting doctors and nurses in providing medical care of patients and transferring and admitting patients.
I already work for an agency on a zero-hour contract as a care worker, so I am looking for care work from Prime Carers that will provide more consistent, regular care work on a daily basis. I am particularly interested in working for fewer clients who need more hours of care each day.
